Lesson 1 · EYFS · 10 minFast and slow
Move your body fast and slow to music.
Learn: Music can be fast, like a running rabbit, or slow, like a sleepy tortoise. This is called tempo. Our bodies can match the music: tiptoe fast, then stretch slowly.
Try it: Play a song and move fast when it is quick and slow when it is calm. Freeze when it stops.
Check: What is the word for how fast music goes?
Tempo

Lesson 2 · KS1 · 15 minKeeping the beat
Clap a steady beat with a song.
Learn: The beat is the steady pulse of music, like a heartbeat. It stays the same even when the words change. Clapping, stamping or tapping helps us feel it.
Try it: Clap along to a favourite song, then try stamping the same beat.
Check: Does the beat speed up and slow down all the time?
No — it stays steady, like a heartbeat
