    Safe kitchen skills

Use the bridge and claw grip safely with an adult.

Learn: Knives must only be used with an adult. The bridge hold makes an arch over food with your fingers; the claw tucks your fingertips in. Keep the knife pointing down and away, and always cut on a board.

Try it: With an adult, slice a soft food like a banana using the claw grip.

Check: Why do we tuck our fingertips in?

So the knife cannot cut our fingers
