Full teaching script
  1. Today: Safe kitchen skills. Our goal: Use the bridge and claw grip safely with an adult.
  2. Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
  3. Knives must only be used with an adult. The bridge hold makes an arch over food with your fingers; the claw tucks your fingertips in. Keep the knife pointing down and away, and always cut on a board.
  4. Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
  5. Your turn: With an adult, slice a soft food like a banana using the claw grip.
  6. Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
