Full teaching script
- Today: Carpentry, joinery and construction. Our goal: Set out and build accurately.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Measure twice, cut once — but set out once, properly, and the cuts follow. Timber moves with moisture, so grain direction and expansion gaps decide whether work survives a year. Loads travel down: every opening needs a lintel sized to its span.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Set out and cut a simple housing joint to 1 mm tolerance.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
