- Today: UCAS, apprenticeships and the personal statement. Our goal: Plan a route beyond 18.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Routes: university via UCAS, degree apprenticeship (paid, no fees), higher apprenticeship, Access to HE, or straight to work with professional exams. A personal statement is 80% evidence of academic curiosity, 20% relevant activity — every claim needs a 'because I did…'.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Draft the opening paragraph of your personal statement.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
