- Today: Energy systems and training. Our goal: Match training to the energy system used.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Three systems overlap. ATP-PC fuels all-out effort for about ten seconds. Anaerobic glycolysis carries you to roughly two minutes and produces the burn. Aerobic respiration powers everything longer and needs oxygen delivery — heart, lungs, capillaries, mitochondria. Train the system the sport uses: short maximal repeats with long rests for power, intervals near threshold for middle distance, steady volume plus threshold work for endurance. Progressive overload plus recovery is the whole game; adaptation happens in the rest, not the session.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Design a week's plan for a 400 m runner and justify each session by energy system.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
