- Today: Money, tax and budgeting. Our goal: Understand payslips, tax and saving.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Gross pay is before deductions; net pay is what lands. In the UK, income tax and National Insurance are taken through PAYE, and a personal allowance is tax-free. Budget 50% needs, 30% wants, 20% savings where you can. Compound interest grows savings — and debt — exponentially, so pay high-interest debt first.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Write a monthly budget for a £1,500 net income.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
