Full teaching script
- Today: Writing to persuade. Our goal: Structure an argument that convinces.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Open with a hook, state your line clearly, then give three developed reasons with evidence. Answer the strongest objection honestly — that is what earns trust. Use rhetorical questions, triples and direct address sparingly; sincerity persuades more than tricks. End by telling the reader what to do.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Write 300 words persuading your council to fund a library.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
