- Today: The Industrial Revolution. Our goal: Explain causes and consequences of industrialisation in Britain.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- From about 1760 coal, steam and iron changed Britain from farming to factories. Steam engines drove mills and railways; cities swelled; child labour and disease were rife until reform acts and unions won safer conditions. It made Britain rich, powerful and polluted, and began the climate change we live with now.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: List three benefits and three harms of industrialisation.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
