- Today: Binary and data representation. Our goal: Convert between binary and denary.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Computers store everything as on/off. Place values double: 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1. So 01001011 is 64+8+2+1 = 75. Text uses ASCII/Unicode numbers, images use pixel colour numbers, sound uses samples — all of it, underneath, is binary.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Convert 1010 1101 to denary, and 200 to binary.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
