- Today: Latin roots and Greek myth. Our goal: Decode English through classical roots.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Around 60% of English vocabulary descends from Latin and Greek. Learn the pieces and you read words you have never met: aqua (water), port (carry), scrib (write), bio (life), graph (writing), phil (love), logos (word/study). Myth carries the other half of the inheritance — Prometheus stealing fire for humanity, Icarus flying too near the sun, Pandora opening the jar and leaving hope inside. These are the shorthand our literature still speaks in.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Take twenty long English words and split each into its classical roots.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
