- Today: Fractions, decimals and percentages. Our goal: Convert between the three ways of writing part of a whole.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- A half can be written 1/2, 0.5 or 50%. They all mean the same amount. To turn a fraction into a decimal, divide the top by the bottom. To turn a decimal into a percentage, multiply by 100. So 3/4 = 0.75 = 75%.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Write 1/4, 1/5 and 2/5 as decimals and percentages.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
