- Today: The Romans in Britain. Our goal: Explain what Roman rule changed in Britain.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Rome invaded Britain in AD 43 and stayed nearly 400 years. They built straight roads, walled towns, baths and Hadrian's Wall. They brought writing in Latin, coins, and a legal system. When the legions left around AD 410, many towns emptied, but the roads and the words remained — 'street', 'wall' and 'mile' are all Roman.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Trace a Roman road on a map of Britain and see which modern roads follow it.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
