Full teaching script
- Today: DR ABC and calling for help. Our goal: Give safe first response.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Danger first — never make a second casualty. Response: shout and gently shake the shoulders. Airway: tilt the head, lift the chin. Breathing: look, listen and feel for ten seconds. Not breathing normally means call 999, start 30 chest compressions to 2 rescue breaths, push hard and fast in the centre of the chest, and send someone for a defibrillator. Breathing and unresponsive means the recovery position. Severe bleeding: call emergency services and apply firm direct pressure. Do not delay pressure to elevate.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Rehearse the 999 call script with an adult. Learn recovery-position skills from a qualified instructor; never practise chest compressions on a person.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
