- Today: Vertebrates and invertebrates. Our goal: Sort animals by whether they have a backbone.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Vertebrates have a backbone: mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians. Invertebrates have no backbone: insects, spiders, worms, snails and jellyfish. Most animal species on Earth are invertebrates.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Sort twelve animal pictures into vertebrates and invertebrates.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
