- Today: Quantum mechanics I. Our goal: Use the Schrödinger equation and operators.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- State is a wavefunction; observables are Hermitian operators; measurement yields an eigenvalue with probability |⟨ψ|φ⟩|². The infinite well quantises energy from boundary conditions alone. Non-commuting operators give uncertainty relations — ΔxΔp ≥ ħ/2 is geometry, not clumsiness.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Solve the particle in a 1D box and sketch the first three states.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
