- Today: Clinical assessment and safe practice. Our goal: Assess a patient systematically.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- ABCDE — Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure — every time, in order, treating as you find. NEWS2 scores observations to escalate early. SBAR structures handover: Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation. Consent, dignity and accurate records are practice, not paperwork.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Practise an SBAR handover for a deteriorating patient.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
