Full teaching script
- Today: Molecular biology and genomics. Our goal: Explain modern sequencing and editing.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- Sanger sequencing reads one fragment accurately; next-generation sequencing reads billions in parallel and assembles by overlap; long-read fills repeats. CRISPR-Cas9 uses a guide RNA to cut a chosen locus, and repair by NHEJ knocks out while HDR knocks in.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: Design a guide RNA target and predict the knockout effect.
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
