- Today: Percentages in real life. Our goal: Handle interest, discounts and VAT.
- Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
- A 20% discount means multiplying by 0.8. Adding 20% VAT means multiplying by 1.2 — and to strip VAT out you divide by 1.2, not subtract 20%. Compound interest: final = principal × (1 + r)ⁿ. APR lets you compare loans honestly.
- Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
- Your turn: A £240 bill includes 20% VAT. What was the pre-VAT price?
- Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
