Full teaching script
  1. Today: Functional Skills Level 2 maths. Our goal: Handle percentages, ratio and scale in real contexts.
  2. Take one idea at a time. Pause after each sentence; ask for repetition whenever you need it.
  3. Reverse percentages: if £96 is after a 20% discount, that is 80%, so 1% is £1.20 and the original was £120. Ratio shares divide the total by the number of parts. Scale drawings multiply by the scale factor. These four skills cover most of the L2 paper.
  4. Together: choose one example from the explanation and show how it works. What do you notice?
  5. Your turn: Do one past-paper section untimed, then one timed.
  6. Reflect: what made sense, and what would you like explained differently?
