  1. Lesson 1 · EYFS · 15 min

    Collage pictures

Make a picture by sticking shapes and textures.

Learn: A collage is a picture made by sticking on paper, fabric, leaves or other bits. Rough, smooth, shiny and soft textures make it fun to touch.

Try it: Make a collage of your favourite animal from scraps.

    Check: What is a collage?

    Junk model building

Plan and build a model from recycled boxes.

Learn: Makers plan first, then build, then test and improve. Joining materials with tape, glue or split pins changes how strong and bendy they are.

Try it: Draw a plan for a rocket or robot, then build it from clean recycling.

Check: What do makers do after they build?

Test it and make it better

  3. Lesson 3 · KS2 · 25 min

    Design a bridge

Test which paper shape holds the most weight.

Learn: Shape changes strength. A flat sheet of paper bends easily, but folding it into a zigzag or rolling it into tubes makes it much stronger, because the shape spreads the load.

Try it: Build three paper bridges and count how many coins each holds.

Check: Why is a folded paper bridge stronger?

The shape spreads the weight so it does not bend as easily
