Lesson 1 · KS2 · 20 minFreeze-frame and status
Use body and status to tell a story.
Learn: Drama says with body what prose says with adjectives. A freeze-frame is a still picture of one moment: level, distance and eyeline carry the meaning. Status is who holds power in a scene — high status is stillness, held eye contact and space taken; low status is fidget, glances and a shrinking shape. Swap status halfway through a scene and an audience feels the turn without a word being said.
Try it: Build three freeze-frames of one story and swap the status in the last.
Check: How does an actor show high status silently?
Stillness, steady eye contact and taking up space.

Lesson 2 · EYFS · 10 minPretend play animals
Move and sound like an animal.
Learn: Drama is pretending. We use our bodies, faces and voices to become someone or something else. An elephant is slow and heavy; a mouse is quick and tiny.
Try it: Act out three animals and let someone guess which.
Check: How would you move like a mouse?
Small, quick and quiet steps

Lesson 3 · KS1 · 15 minBeginning, middle and end
Tell a story with a beginning, middle and end.
Learn: Stories have a shape. The beginning tells us who and where. The middle has a problem. The end shows how the problem is solved.
Try it: Tell a three-part story about a lost teddy using three pictures.
Check: Which part of a story has the problem?
The middle
